What is the mission and objective of SHIFT?
SHIFT is more than just a research publication; it is an initiative for change to work smarter and live safer. In coordination with BCSP and the BCSP Foundation’s Research and Innovation Initiative, SHIFT will publish open-access original research, special interest pieces, and technical analyses of current events, twice per year. Additionally, Best Practice Guides will be published each year with select supplementary materials.
SHIFT provides the global EHS profession, from practitioners in industry and academia to governmental agencies, with industry leading, innovative research and content. Whether you are a student just starting out or an experienced leader in the EHS community, SHIFT has articles and best practices pertinent to you!
What is the peer review process?
Subject matter experts (SMEs) from a range of industries and specialties have been selected to provide high-quality, astute analyses of cutting-edge research. Our SMEs are carefully selected and matched to research best suited to their expertise for effective, reliable review. All staff, advisors, and volunteers will be held to a strict code of conduct and guided by policies and procedures that determine both scope and responsibility.
All manuscripts are thoroughly assessed by SHIFT editors for alignment with the overall scope and quality standards of the publication. Manuscripts that pass assessment must be anonymized to comply with the rigorous double-blind review process, then sent for formal evaluation by peer reviewers. Non-research papers are subject to meticulous review by SMEs to ensure integrity and accuracy prior to publication.
How are the Best Practices determined?
Best practices are procedures and guidelines developed from scientific research that are accepted as the most efficient, prudent, and secure approach to a particular activity. We intend to bridge the gap between research and practical application through collaboration and partnership of academic study and experience. A dedicated committee of experienced practitioners will guide the development of studies into practical procedures and strategies.
What is the process of article and research submission?
The process of submitting articles and research can be found here. Prior to submitting any work, please read the Author Guidelines for all necessary submission requirements.
What are the benefits of a subscription?
